Carbon/Silicon Rocks SXSW ’08

By Guitar gue

Britpunk forefathers Mick Jones (the Clash, Big Audio Dynamite) and Tony James (Generation X) laid pummeling, Fender-fueled garage-rock siege to the mid-March 2008 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas, with their band, Carbon/Silicon.

Carbon/Silicon, formed in 2002, also features bassist Leo “E-zee-kill” Williams and drummer Dominic Greensmith. The group played two shows in three hectic days at SXSW, with a set at nightclub Friends and a DIRECTV broadcast from the Austin Convention Center at which they tore through songs from latest album The Last Post and left packed houses raving. The band’s SXSW appearance, which also included several live radio appearances, served as the kickoff for a six-week North American tour.
